Abstract
The etymological component in Italian and dialect lexicography is considered essentially from a twofold perspective: the first is completed by the simple indication of the progenitor entry; the second traces the more or less complex history of the word. Starting from these perspectives, a review of vocabularies of different types and epochs is developed, and different examples of etymological reconstruction are offered, taken from some of the most representative Italian and dialectal works.
