Short description: The so-called "markstones", which can still be found in some places along the Carinthian ridge, are evidence of the Austrian-Italian border construction. One example can be found at the "Tilliacher Joch" pass (Fig. 6), which was an important passage in historical times. The stone is engraved with the year 1785 and N 3 (number 3).
